Colors to Use for Helicopters
Stick to grays, blacks, and dark greens for military helicopter colors. For civilian choppers, use bright yellows, reds, or blues.
How to Color a Helicopter in Detail
A. Layering Colors: Start with a gray base coat for the helicopter body. Layer darker grays and blacks for panel details and shading. Add pops of color for accent stripes.
B. Highlighting and Shadows: Use yellow or white highlights on the upper areas and windshield to show where light hits. Shade the underside darker.
Invite Creativity Challenge: Symmetrical Chopper
Create a symmetrically colored design by using the same colors and patterns on each side of the helicopter.
This bilateral coloring approach helps develop skills in precise color-matching and evenness. It encourages focused consistency across an image.
